Here’s a couple of Down-To-Earth tips to help your home punch back at winter:
Give Your Roof the Once-Over:
Our winters can be tough, especially on the roofs. Make sure you keep an eye out for any damages or ice dams, and get 'em sorted before they start making trouble.
Deal with the Gutters and Downspouts:
You don't want your gutters and downspouts turning into ice rinks. Keep 'em clear so the water has a smooth run, and you can sidestep any potential water damage.
Look at the Windows and Doors:
Find any gaps or cracks in your windows and doors and seal them up good. Not only will it keep the cold out and the cozy in, but it'll also make your home use energy more efficiently.
Show Your Heating System Some Love:
Get a pro to check that your heating system is pulling its weight. Don't forget to change out that furnace filter every so often!
Blow the Whistle on Your Pipes:
Frozen pipes? No thanks, they can be a right pain in the wallet. Wrap 'em up and disconnect any outside hoses to avoid freezing problems.
Shovel Your Walkways and Driveways:
Scrape off any snow and ice on your walkways and driveways to keep slips and falls at bay. Throw down some sand or ice melt for extra grip.
Give your Chimney and Fireplace a Sprucing:
If you're blessed with a fireplace, make sure your chimney is clean and good-to-go for a safe and enjoyable fireside sit-down.
Take a Look at the Outdoor Equipment:
Check that the snowblower, shovels, and the rest of your winter gear are ready for action!
